There is an interesting story to the Cambodia gambling halls that sit just over the dividing line from next door Thailand, in which gambling den gaming is banned. Eight casinos are situated in a generally tiny location in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling halls is in a prime destination, a 3 to 4 hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two biggest gambling centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a huge business with Thai workers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The phenomenal capital acquired from the gambling halls ranges from seven and a half million dollars to over 12.5 million, and there are a few limitations constraints for gambling den ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mainly Thai; although, funding sources are ambiguous. The borders are officially open from 0900 to 17:00, and although visas are for all intents and purposes needed to cross, there are methods and means around this, as is real of most border crossings.

The 1st Cambodia gambling dens premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in 1998, leaving only 1 casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored ship gambling den, highlights 150 slots and sixty gaming tables. The Naga gambling den never closes with forty two tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, 4 tables of vingt-et-un, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The initial gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown before long opened. There are one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and five tables at the Golden Crown and 104 one armed bandits and 68 tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features three hundred slots and 70 tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and 96 gaming tables, including eighty seven punto banco (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machine games and 66 of the normal tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight casinos in Poipet, also in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slots and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a multinational vacation and hotel compound that features a number of luxuries on top of the gambling den, which houses 10,000 square feet of 130 slots and 88 table games.
